Rob Cullen

I have been working within the timber frame industry since 1998, when I was employed as Frame Designer and IT Manager for a small building and development company, which specialised in creating bespoke timber framed houses.

In 2000, I was responsible for the introduction of Dietrich's specialist timber frame CAD software within the company which was linked to the subsequent purchase of the UK's first Hundegger K2 CAD/CAM post processing machine.

Having increased my understanding of CAD/CAM and developed the knowledge and skills required within the timber frame industry, I established Cullen Timber Design Ltd, an independent and freelance organisation uniquely placed to offer a specialised design service and consultancy.

I have been operating since February 2005, offering my services to a diverse range of clients, including architects, developers, frame suppliers and self builders.  These services include not only the design of timber frames for a range of purposes but also consultancy to ensure an appropriate and cost effective method of design and manufacture.

I have worked consistently to promote timber framing as a solution to modern building needs.  This is because of the enthusiasm I have for the process, not just because of its ecological benefits, but also because of the aesthetic possibilities the method offers.

Within a respectful awareness of the tradition of timber building in the UK, I aim to promote the use of modern yet appropriate design and manufacturing techniques to ensure complete client satisfaction.
