Dietrich's - Roof Design/DiCAM |

Roof Design The Dietrich's Roof modules, offer the timber frame designer considerable power and speed in the design of cut roofs. The calculation of the position of the ridge, hip and valley inclination, changes in roof pitch, rising eaves or ridges is all carried out automatically, following minimal user input. Placement of dormer windows, openings for roof lights and chimneys are also all handled with ease. After the roof shape is defined the roof wizard generates the supporting timber structure following a library of self defined construction guidelines. Special tools also enable the building of the roof manually piece by piece, or to edit and adjust the automatically generated structure. |

When the basic structure of a building is finalised additional fine tuning can be undertaken using the DiCAM 3D modeller. This enables the introduction of additional beams and joinery as well as allowing the viewing of the building as a whole and detailing areas where one building area interacts with another. In addition, you can access Dynamic Link Modules (DLM's) which are parametric library elements for various truss types and windows and doors. |

Dietrich's powerful OpenGL visualisations are available from all the different modules within the program. These produce fully rendered and textured perspective walk and fly through images which bring frames to life and to aid the designer. They not only help the frame designer during the design process but they bring the structure to life for the client and make it far easier for them to make important decisions with regard to their building. As well as being output on two dimensional media, these visualisations can also be exported as a VRML file for viewing on any computer. |
